Welcome!
Welcome to Fide and Femina!
My name is Anna, and I’ll be your host into many worlds. I am a writer, wife, mother, “Marmee” to eight, chef, pianist, reader, knitter, crocheter, seamstress, artist, gardener (sort of), advocate for freedom, and housekeeper. Not necessarily in that order.
I am a beginner in some of those worlds, and not an expert in any of them. But I feel that’s what makes this little life of mine interesting - variety! I could assign other labels to myself, but that is enough for the time being.
When I decided to go back to blogging, it was for several reasons:
I want to be myself.
When I’m writing for someone else, there are rules put in place that don’t always allow me to simply be who I am, to say what I wish, etc. So this is a place I can be free of what can sometimes be stifling expectations.
Lack of censorship.
I’m weary of the war on words, which is ultimately a war on freedom. I want to be able to say what’s clanging around in my head.
It gets my creative juices flowing.
I need a place to go to where I can work out the cobwebs before I work on my professional pieces. Sometimes, I’ll sit down to a writing assignment, and find I have too many personal or otherwise weighty matters clogging up the flow. So this is a place I can hash things out before I hash things out, if you know what I mean.
I miss it.
Gone are the days when women blogged because they enjoyed it and because the online friendships they found meant something to them.
Wait ….
Are those days gone? I intend to find out.
Pretty simple. Come along with me while Fide and Femina evolves. We live in a largely faithless, feminists world, but I believe women everywhere have a unique opportunity to show the world the importance of femininity and faith, and that both are worthy of our time and efforts. Hence the title Fide and Femina - Faith and Femininity.
